Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project

It's a curious dilemma: here we sit on Cornwall's beautiful coastline, a part of the country to which millions flock because of that very beauty. And yet, here we are, a hotel which relies on attracting more visitors, meaning that all of us - to a degree, however unwittingly - are threatening that beauty.

So, what to do?

Well, for one thing, we joined - and have become Ambassadors for - CoaST (the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project). This commits us to working towards and championing sustainable tourism, and to ensuring that we are a positive force within Cornwall.

Something else we decided to do was introduce a sustainable tourism contribution scheme, more of which here.

And we were also Cornwall's first hotel to win Green Accreditation with a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme.

So, what we're doing, in short, is trying. We don't know all the answers and we promise we don't stand on a soapbox at breakfast time. What we do know, though, is that this matters. So doing nothing is not an option
